Townlink Freight has consoled Malawians over the tragic death of Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others.
“We’re deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of nine lives due to a plane crash accident of 10th June 2024, which claimed the life of Malawi’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima.
We, as Townlink Freight would like to express our most sincere condolences and sympathy to the State President, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, and the families of the late Vice President and Eight Others.”
Late Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, and nine others lost their lives following a tragic plane clash on Monday 10th June 2024 in Chikangawa Forest, north of Malawi. It is reported that the accident might have been caused by bad weather. Chilima was on his way to represent the government of Malawi at the burial ceremony of former government minister Raphael Kasambara in Nkhatabay. The wreckage was found nearly after a day of the unfortunate accident.
Malawi’s State President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has since declared 21 days of national mourning in respect of Vice President Chilima and his entourage. Amongst the nine others was former first lady, Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri. CHILIMA was 51.
This was the same plane that was used to transport the body of late Justice Minister and Attorney General, Raphael Kasambara, just a day earlier on Sunday, June 9th.
The Malawi leader said Vice President Chilima had served his country with distinction. His passing is truly a great loss to Malawi, Africa and beyond.
